Case could be made for each guy. I tend to give Lundqvist or Niemi the edge over Bob because they got their teams into the playoffs.

Lundqvist has the pedigree and sometimes the voters for awards kind of see it as "Its his turn now" as opposed to who actually performed better that particular year.

Numbers wise I'm saying its Niemi. If the Sharks could have scored a few more goals on the road this year he would have had a few more wins. He was a brick wall at home. If not for him the Sharks don't make the playoffs. He should get strong consideration for the Hart as well.

Bobrovski had a great year too but fell short of the playoffs. I don't see the hockey world handing a major award to CLB just because of who they are. Not saying its right, but just how it is.

i think neimi or Bob. Lundy just didn't have the Vezina year this year IMO, on a powerhouse team that squeaked into the playoffs.

Also surprised rask didnt even get a nimination

this award should go to bob, IMO.

very surprised, as are others on this thread, that lundqvist got the nomination over rask.

My vote would be for Bobrovsky. I don't care that his team didn't make the playoffs... An average save percentage of .932, and a 2.00GAA while going 21-11-6 WITH THE JACKETS!!! Bobrovsky was the man this year... The NHL awards are a joke though, so he may not win it...

There are awards that I think can be awarded to non-playoff players. I don't think this is one of them, especially in a shortened season with so many good candidates.

I think Niemi should win. I'd say Bob, but his team didnt get in the playoffs.

If Anderson stayed healthy, he would of ran away with it uncontested.

It should be Bob... and it shouldnt even be close. With out Bob the Jackets are getting a top 3 pick in the draft.

Lundqvist made about 200 more saves and had 5 more wins than Tuuka, not sure why there is any surprise.

Bobo gets it. HE took a team with not exactly a whole lot of talent on it to within one game of getting a perennial basement dweller to the playoffs. Lundqvist and Nemo both have talent, and LOTS OF IT in front of them. Bob, not so much. I don't think I can name more than 2 or 3 guys on Columbus, where as the star loaded teams in SJ and NY, that's easy.

usually I hear comments "the Rangers would be nothing without Lundqvist" or "take Lundqvist away and you guys would be 30th"

except in a case like this, it's "oh look at the team Lundqvist has in front of him"

niemi will probably get it because he got into the playoffs and he was a beast all season...

bob would get it if the jackets finished 8th...he was a monster this year and he would of got it had they made the play-offs..

i dont know why hendrick is even up for the trophy with others like rask deserving it more and many more goalies could have got it over him as well, last year seemed like a better fit for him to win it than this year, not saying he should of won that either, but he had a better year last yerar..just my thoughts

Rangers - Nash, Callahan, Clowe, Richards, Stepan, Brassard, Dorsett, Del Zotto, McDonut, Staal. <- And those are the only ones I can remember OFF the top of my head.

Beejs' - Jack Johnson, ummmm. Bueller? Bueller? Bueller? Oh that Gaborik guy they got from you late in the season. uhhhh... That's all I got.

Based on the 2nd half of the season, i don't think Lundqvist could've gotten the Beej's into the playoffs either compared to how both played.

Bobo had the better year. * I just like calling him that because it sounds ridiculous, just like his play was this year. *

This. He deserves it. Anderson was making a strong case as well before he went down.

I think you're missing the point. Rangers fans are constantly told that our team would not be good without Lundquist. You yourself may not be saying that but it's a constant theme on our thread from other posters. We get blasted for having Lundquist but it seems not many want to reward him because he's a Ranger

I think Lundquist is an OK goalie, but he's never 'won anything'. It's all name at this point. The Rangers have a really great team, 4 rolling lines great D core and oozing with talent. I'm thinking he may be the problem in net. Bright lights, big city, good looking guy. Head case. Puts up decent numbers sure. Until he can win something though... Torts is a good coach, he's been down that road and won a cup. Lots of guys on that team have cups, but the chemistry and goaltending are key. Maybe it's time to shake it up in net? Swap him for Ryan Miller perhaps. Winning in the playoffs starts from the net out, and he's not been getting it done. You can only beat a retarded horse for so long.
